Passwords
The customer forgot the DVR user and administration passwords, is there a 'backdoor' to enter system programming?
After loading the IRAS software, the installer or customer changed the IRAS password and selected 'ask for password before setup'. Now the user is unable to go into 'local setup' to add a site or change the password. Removing the IRAS using the Windows "Add or Delete" program, the system still does not allow entry. Is there an additional file that should be deleted?

Operating System
Question: What are the computer system requirements for the RAS (Remote Administration System)?
Answer: Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows ME
Microsoft Windows 2000
CPU: Intel Pentium II (Celeron) 266MHz or higher
RAM: 64MB or higher
VGA: AGP, Video RAM 8MB or higher
Screen Resolution: 800 x 600 pixels
Color Depth: 24bpp or higher

Question: What computer operating systems will support the RAS (Remote Administration System) software?
Answer: Currently the operating system support includes:
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows ME
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP

Multiplexers
Question: Can I use the SDR4 or A-SDR4E with a standard multiplexer as a VCR replacement?
Answer: The SDR4xx series DVRs should not be used as a multiplexer VCR replacement. The SDR4xx series DVRs do not contain multiplexer interface protocols. If used with a multiplexer, the camera images will not "sync" to the recorder and will be displayed on the monitor switching in a fast sequential manner. The uses of the A-CDVR80 single-channel recorder should be used as the VCR replacement.

Encryption
Question: Are the image files captured in the A-SDR4 and A-SDR4E units encrypted?
Answer: The individual image files are encrypted with a process called "chained fingerprint encryption" or CFE. The images are recorded with CFE, the CFE remains encrypted and is transferred to the archived video using the clip-copy archive process, but this CFE does not follow the image file to the archiving media when saving as a JPEG or AVI file.

Question: What happens with the chained fingerprint information on static scenes? Is the fingerprint information updated on static scenes?

Answer: Yes, it will be recorded in the HDD.

Audio
Question: How does the audio recording affect the video image storage space?
Answer: The audio record data size is 3kb for 1 second.

Archiving Data
Question: Once an AVI file (date range) has been stored on the computer media, how do you search the AVI file for specific date and time or event information?

Answer: The AVI files have day and time information contained in the on-screen display text. Since the AVI file is played back using a common media player, you will not be able to perform event or date/time search of the AVI file.

Question: Can the customer download the entire HDD to a backup device?
Answer: The HDD can be archived to other computer media storage devices as smaller AVI files. Since the system can search based on specific days, the customer will need to make several AVI files to download the entire HDD. It would be best to know the specific time within a date to download the desired information, instead of downloading the entire HDD.

Passwords
Question: The customer forgot the DVR user and administration passwords, is there a 'backdoor' to enter system programming?

Answer: There is no 'backdoor' to enter the menus if the customer forgets the password. The customer will need to reset the system by using reset button located on the rear panel of the unit. The reset will return the system to factory default setting with the default password of "1234".

Question: After loading the IRAS software, the installer or customer changed the IRAS password and selected 'ask for password before setup'. Now the user is unable to go into 'local setup' to add a site or change the password. Removing the IRAS using the Windows "Add or Delete" program, the system still does not allow entry. Is there an additional file that should be deleted?

Answer: The file to delete to reset the password is the ras.sys file located in the windows/system32 directory. The best method to locate this file is to select the Start, Search for files and folders and enter the ras.sys file name. Once found you can then delete the file and reenter the IRAS Server program.

Note: deleting this file will reset the IRAS system. All configurations and passwords previously entered will be lost.

Question: After loading the IRAS software and setting up a the local site, the Remote Site page requests a User ID, what do I type in for this field?

Answer: The SDR4xx series DVRs do not use this parameter; you may leave this field blank.

Number of Users
Question: How many users can connect to the A-SDR4E at any one time?
Answer: Two connections per each program are possible. This means, two users can connect to the system and perform Remote Admin, another two users can connect to the same system and perform Remote Watch and another two users may be connected to Remote Search.

Number of Remote Locations
Question: How many Remote sites can I enter into the IRAS software?
Answer: In the IRAS Local Set up under Remote sites, on the left side you see " Group of Remote sites" and on the right side you see "Remote Sites". Each site can have up to 256, so you can have total "256 Groups of remote sites" and "256 Remote sites". If you have one "Group of remote site", then you can have up to "256 remote sites" under that group. There is no limitation how many "remote sites" can be entered unless the TOTAL "remote site" exceeds 256. The user can define how many "Groups of remote sites" are entered as long as they do not exceed 256. The user can also define and arrange various numbers of "Remote sites" as long as they do not exceed a TOTAL of 256.

IRAS (Remote Administration System)
Question: Where do I find and how do I load the Remote Administration System (IRAS) software onto the customer's computer?
Answer: One CD containing the IRAS software is included in each digital recorder. The software may also be downloaded from the ADTviewpro.com web site. Instructions for downloading and installing the IRAS software are found on the ADTVviewpro.com web site.

Image Capture
Question: Does the system employ condition refresh during image capture?
Answer: Yes, the system employs condition refresh for changing images and at a minimum refreshes at least once every minute.

Question: If the imaged scene is static (not changing), does the SDR4 record only the last frame of information or update only the time and date stamp?

Answer: SDR-4 will record necessary information even though there are no image changes. In this information, there will be Fingerprint, Time, Date and all the information needed to perform the Search operation.
