Question: How do I trouble shoot my system?
Answer:

No Video:

  1. If video is not present from a camera try swapping the camera to a known working Observation system camera input.
  2. If video is still not present then you may have a defective camera. If video is present, using the alternate Observation monitor input then the system may have a defective camera input port or defective cable.
  3. To check the cable, swap with an alternate camera cable.
  4. Call your local ADT office and arrange to have the defective unit sent in for service.
 
No Audio:
Note: Covert cameras do not pass audio.
  1. Ensure the volume control on the Observation monitor is turned up (CW rotation).
  2. If there is a squealing when the camera is connected then the camera is to close to the monitor or the volume is up to high causing audio feedback.
  3. Ensure proper camera is selected for audio by selecting the camera in Full Screen mode (note: only one camera will have audio in the Quad mode).
  4. If audio is not present from a camera, try swapping the camera to a known working Observation system camera input.
  5. If audio is still not present, then you may have a defective camera. If audio is present, using the alternate Observation monitor input then the system may have a defective camera input port or defective cable.
  6. To check the cable, swap camera cable with an alternate cable.
  7. If there is no audio and if equipment is available, try the camera on another Observation monitor to determine if the monitor has a defective speaker or if the camera has a defective microphone.
  8. Call your local ADT office and arrange to have the defective unit sent in for service.
 
Distorted Video: Observation System
Note: EIA / CCIR switch on the back of the monitor should be on EIA.
  1. Determine if the distorted video is with one camera or with all cameras connected to the Observation System.
  2. If the distortion is isolated to one camera, then review "No Video" section and confirm defective camera.
  3. If distortion is isolated to the monitor, attempt to correct by adjusting the horizontal and vertical hold controls on the Observation monitor.
  4. If video remains distorted call your local ADT office and arrange to have the defective unit sent in for service
